In 2007 Adam Teva V’Din’s environmental justice team filed a petition in the Supreme Court against Ra’anana Municipality’s practice of charging entrance fees to non-residents at the municipal park. In effect, people living within walking distance of the park where not allowed free access; visiting family members had to wait in line while their Ra’annana-registered relatives were quickly admitted for free.
In response to the filing of our petition, our high-profile protest, public pressure and serious reflection by the Interior Minister at the time, the Municipal Ordinances were changed to prohibit local authorities to charge for entry to public parks.
