Dear Friends,
If one lesson stands out for Israelis this year, it is that “business as usual” is no longer enough – not for national security, and not for environmental security.
For over three decades, Adam Teva V’Din has been Israel’s national environmental watchdog, championing clean water, sustainable energy, a toxin-free environment, and environmental justice for all.
Today, as the fighting subsides, we face the dismantling of vital environmental laws, policies, and planning frameworks. The Climate Law – a deeply flawed measure – fails to include critical targets or oversight, leaving national mitigation and adaptation efforts as optional rather than essential. Compounding these threats, the controversial judicial reforms, paused during the Iron Swords war, have returned to the government’s agenda.
Throughout this challenging year, we have worked tirelessly to protect Israel’s environmental security, addressing the challenges of rebuilding war-torn areas by advocating for balanced and inclusive planning committees, for overhaul of our failing waste management systems, for rehabilitation of contaminated sites, and for the integration of renewable energies in the north and south. And we are still working intensively, every day, to secure an ambitious and robust Climate Law to address the climate crisis.
With the hope of peace returning, we are more determined than ever to deliver environmental security, now and for the future. We are profoundly grateful for the unwavering support of US Jewish communities, who have stood with Israel and civil society organizations like ours throughout this challenging year. Join us again in our critical mission to deliver Israel’s environmental security by making a tax-deductible gift today.
With deep appreciation,
Wishing you a happy and healthy Chanukah,
Attorney Amit Bracha
