A dark day for Israel

The most extreme government in Israel, with the support of the Minister of Environmental Protection, led to the approval of a dictatorial law which will reduce the Supreme Court’s ability to protect environmental human rights. The cancellation of the “concept of reasonableness” grants the government a free rein to make arbitrary and offensive decisions, with Israel’s environmental protection likely to be an early victim.

Adam Teva V’Din will continue to turn over every stone so that the public’s environmental rights are guaranteed. We fight in the courts, we fight in the Knesset and we fight in the street.

We promise to do everything in our power to continue to support an independent, professional and liberal legal system – one that will protect our right to breathe clean air, protect us from carcinogenic chemicals in the public space and protect our right to live in a decent living environment.

For more on the concept of reasonableness and how it affects our work, as well as an overview of the proposed judicial overhaul, please read this article from January 2023.
